Halloween Horror Movie Month (HHMM III)

It's my favorite month again and I'm pretty pumped. Fall has come and brought college football and the MLB postseason. My beloved Cardinals are in the playoffs and I hope they can surprise everyone. Warm and hearty food is going to be enjoyed (chili tonight!) and hopefully some good horror movie watching.

Twitter Chrome Web App

For whatever reason Twitter doesn't have a Chrome web app. So I made one myself.

Here's how to install it manually.

1. Download the CRX (web app) file. Right click here: http://joesteinkamp.com/js-downloads/twitter.crx and select "Select link as..." (Do not left click the link - installing this way fails)

2. Drag the downloaded CRX file into Chrome

3. Select "Install"

4. Done. Now you have Twitter installed as a web app.

So I created my own chrome web app. Here's how to install it manually.

1. Download the CRX (web app) file. Right click here: http://joesteinkamp.com/js-downloads/Grooveshark.crx and select "Select link as..." (Do not left click the link - installing this way fails)

2. Drag the downloaded CRX file into Chrome

3. Select "Install"

4. Done. Now you have Grooveshark installed as a web app.

Updating Ruby on Rails on Snow Leopard OS X

Snow Leopard has Ruby 1.8.x and Rails 2.3.x preloaded. Rails has update to 3.x and is much improved. I advise upgrading and learning all the new features. Since you're upgrading, why not update Ruby as well. Follow the instructions below to install Ruby 1.9.2 and update Rails to 3.0.x

Get and extract a copy of Ruby 1.9.2

Halloween Horror Movie Month (HHMM II)

Last year I started my own horror movie watching tradition. This year I've given it a name that it can go by  - maybe it'll catch on :) .

So here's the deal: Halloween is coming at the end of October and in order to appreciate the holiday I've created a movie marathon leading up to the grand event. Scary movies have a love/hate relationship with people - for me it's just love.

So without further ado, here's my lineup for HHMM:

  • Carrie
  • Nightmare on Elm St. - Original
  • Saw 3D (Saw VII)
  • Halloween 2 - Rob Zombie version
  • Cube
  • The Faculty
  • American Psycho
  • Blair Witch Project
  • Paranormal Activity 2
  • Body Snatchers
  • Diary of the Dead
  • Amityville Horror - Original
